Roman Holiday

We came. We Saw. Rome Conquered.

Marco and I have spent many days together in Rome at this point and we've seen most of the major sights. Unfortunately, the top two on my Roman to-do list (the Forum and Coliseum) continue to elude me. This past trip was work-related so while Marco got to scratch off my top two, I was stuck in the office and limited to after-hours sightseeing.

We did manage to get some favorites in; like checking out the artists on top of the Spanish Steps.

Paid a visit to the church of Santa Susanna, the same church for which my aunt was named. At least, I hope so. It's Rome, there could be two Santa Susanna churches.

A snack at a mozzarella bar in the Campo di Fiori, strategically located on an exterior table for prime people-watching opportunities.

Dinner with friends from work in Trastevere. We had the added pleasure of meeting them at the beautiful church of Santa Maria and seeing the church lit up with bells ringing.

And then there's the stuff I didn't see. Like the woman with a bus on her head.

Or Vatican City on a perfectly lit afternoon.

And the Trevi Fountain? If I didn't get to throw a coin in this time, does that mean they'll let me come back?

And, of course, the top two. The Coliseum.

I managed to sneak a peek from overhead of the Roman Forum at dusk but my lucky hubby was the one who made it in during daytime.

I suppose it just gives me more to come back for.
