A Break from S.A.D.

Nobody told me that Milan would be so gray. When it hasn't been raining, it's been snowing. Honestly, we're lucky if we get one sunny afternoon a week. Unfortunately for me, they tend to occur on work days. Just when I thought I couldn't take it anymore, we booked two quick getaways that have been lifting my spirits in anticipation - Düsseldorf during the Rhineland's pre-Lent Carnival and Paris for a girl's weekend.

It's been a little over two years since my last trip to Paris and I can't believe I've been gone for so long! The trip evolved somewhat spontaneously. After chatting with a friend in Dublin who has never been, we decided to call upon other girlfriends/colleagues scattered around Europe. In a surprising twist of events, six of the seven mothers, wives, pet-owners, professionals jumped on board with less than five weeks notice! It must be the weather. In any event, the scheduled weekend happens to be the four-year anniversary of the date I left Paris and of the week all my friends and I met for the very first time.

Hoping for good weather but looking forward to a weekend of wine, cheese, art and friends!

Must be bad if Dusseldorf is something to pine about! Have fun in Paris!
